Chareidi Boycott of Hadassah Gaining Momentum

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

It seems that with the child reportedly improving, now out of danger and having gained weight, the chareidi community is unwilling to place his future well-being in the hand of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, continuing protests and demanding the child be transferred to Schneider Children’s Hospital in Petach Tikvah.

On Monday night, protestors gathered in the Har Nof neighborhood of the capital and davened maariv outside the home of Dr. Yair Birnbaum, the deputy director-general of the hospital who has already received death threats.

The pashkavilim campaign in Meah Shearim and elsewhere runs the gamut from accusing the hospital, denying the legitimacy of claims of Munchausen Syndrome, taking us back in history to the dark days of the missing Yemenite children and the 5769 blood libel, painting a clear “anti-Zionist” picture that screams of conspiracy against the frum community.

It has reached the point that the story of the boy hit by a bus on Yoel Street in Geula on Monday was transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center instead of Hadassah Ein Kerem’s trauma unit, against the advice of paramedics, because the chareidi father refused to bring his child to Hadassah.

Are Winter Tires Better Than All Season Tires?

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

Numerous believe that all you need is a trustworthy pair of shoes to get to where you desire to go. And a lot of people actually feel this way about their vehicle. But in reality your vehicles tires are closer to like your feet. Using the wrong kind of tires to drive with would be like attempting to walk with two left feet. In other words is can be risky. This is specially true when driving in the winter months. Even though the handling ability has come along way over the past years and numerous of vehicles are said to to have the ability to handle most driving circumstances it is still powerfully advocated that if you are driving in snow and ice that you only utilize tires that are made for snow and ice. There are other kinds of tires referred to as 鈥渁ll season tires鈥?also know as M+S (mud and snow) tires. Several think that these all season tires can be used to drive in snow and ice with. But this is not correct. You should only utilize tires for this. Tests have proved that all season tires are able to firm up and lose their grip and traction ability when the tires reach zero Celsius. This will cause them to lose traction on the ice and can make it unsafe to drive. If you need tires that will assist you with driving in ice and snow then it would be best to utilize the nokian winter tires. Especially the Hakkapeliitta RSi 鈥?these tires go way above requirements to handle the most tricky of winter driving needs.

Pennant and Ibrahimovic already feeling the heat

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

Jermaine Pennant may be taking advantage of paying far less income tax by playing in Spain, but he will be feeling the heat.

It was 43 degrees in his new home city Zaragoza at the end of last week. Barcelona was almost 38, the hottest day in the city since Mark Hughes and Gary Lineker played for Barca.

New signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic should be careful not to wilt in the Mediterranean sun like many former Barca strikers.

BLOG: How Jermaine Pennant could ruin the Premier League

"It ain't 'alf hot mum…"

I’m just glad that Barca finally signed a striker, for the speculation was becoming as tiresome as the 'Ronaldo leaving Manchester United for Madrid' stories a year ago.

The Catalan sports papers have had a summer of alternating four different potential strikers on their covers.

With the consistency of a Daily Express/Princess Diana story, Sport or Mundo Deportivo would link Barca with David Villa each Monday.

Tuesday was Diego Forlan day, Wednesday was Ibrahimovic. Thursday’s usually went to the latest stage in the Samuel Eto’o saga with Friday’s covers perhaps throwing in Fabregas.

People actually buy this nonsense, however tenuous the stories. David Villa would be spotted in a car with a ‘B’ in the number plate – proof that he was joining Barcelona.

Diego Forlan’s agent might say ‘Barca’ in conversation – proof that he was joining Barca.

Barca themselves have played it very cool in the heat. Pep Guardiola has maintained all along that he’s happy with the base of his squad and that it just needed a bit of tweaking.

Which meant replacing the fiery but brilliant Samuel Eto’o, who scored 130 goals in 199 senior matches for Barca. Had there been a consistently better centre forward in world football in the last five years?

In paying €46 million plus Eto’o for Ibrahimovic, Barca are paying a massive premium for the Swede – not that the 60,000 who turned out to welcome him at Camp Nou on Monday seemed to mind.

And Barca are being slightly hypocritical if they claim that Eto’o was always disruptive. Fans didn’t complain when he called his former club Madrid ‘b*stards.’

As a journalist, I’ll miss Eto’o’s barbs. I interviewed him one-on-one nine times and he never failed to give frank quotes, of which only Roy Keane could rival from the modern game.

In one interview at his home, he flowed with beautiful metaphors and cogent thoughts.

Then I asked him if his brother was in the same league as him – a perfectly reasonable soft question. He looked at me as if I’d just booted his cat, before saying: “Of course he is! He’s my brother.”

Another time, I bumped into him in a Barcelona shop. My brother was visiting and I introduced him, explaining that he played for FC United of Manchester.

“Yes, Manchester United, I know that team,” replied Eto’o, while shaking my brother’s hand. It wasn’t the place to explain the Glazer takeover.

While Barca tried to sell him, Eto’o recently took off to the footballers’ favourite American bolthole of South Beach, Miami.

Wes Brown once bumped into Paulo Maldini in the reception of the Delano there, but was too star struck to speak to him. Fortunately, Maldini and his beautiful wife (well, she was hardly going to be minging was she?) came over and they had a chat.

It’s the Spanish coast rather than Miami where most of Spain retreats to in the summer, while Barca and Madrid are fond of training camps in the cooler climes of Great Britain and Ireland. Barca have started their pre-season in Britain during five of the last six seasons.

I was fortunate to see the huge indie music festival at Benicassim, a seaside town where most of the Villarreal players live close to Valencia.

The organisers and around half the 50,000 crowd were British, but there were few football shirts in evidence.

I did see an Asturian man in a Sporting Gijon shirt pour me cider out of a David Villa bottle holder though.

"What'll it be stranger…"

Villa and Fernando Alonso are the most popular men in the green fields of Asturias, though Villa’s probably currently annoyed that he’s still at Valencia.

Oasis played alongside the The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Elbow and many more. I watched as Liam and Noel left their changing rooms and a few people shouted ‘City!’

They nodded approvingly, though they looked confused when a Spanish lad shouted, ‘City’s going down like a sinking submarine…’

Intrapreneurship – Green Your Resume by Greening Your Current Job

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

I was intrigued by a report recently released by NetImpact entitled, Making Your Impact at Work: A Practical Guide to Changing the World from Inside a Company (http://netimpact.org/associations/4342/files/MakingYourImpactatWork.pdf).

Given the current economy, you may not feel comfortable giving up the stability of your current job to find a job that has a more positive impact on the planet. Rather than giving up on your dream, use this time as a great opportunity to green your current job and add green elements to your resume. With initiative and focus you can find a volunteer project at work that allows you to make a difference and enhance your own skills at the same time.

The trick is to become an intrapreneur, basically an in-house entrepreneur, who looks for projects within the company to reduce waste, minimize energy usage, or some other green goal. Other intrapreneurs may use the same strategies to make an impact through socially responsible initiatives or social justice projects. In the first half of the report you can read brief descriptions of the projects taken on by 15 NetImpact members. (If you are a member you can download (http://netimpact.org/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=2745) a larger report with full in depth case studies about each of these individuals and their projects.)

Strategies to Become an Intrapreneur

In the report, NetImpact spells out the strategies an intrapreneur can take to make a difference within their company.

To prepare for your project, you:

1) Identify a project that helps the company meet a business objective. Look for a project that dovetails with a company initiative, an executive’s key interest, or a potential business direction. 2) Build a team of employee volunteers. To succeed, focus on creating an environment that encourages participation. 3) Establish the baseline for your project by gathering data before starting to implement your project.

To produce results with your project, you:

1) Engage your stakeholders, from your coworkers to upper management. You may also find an external stakeholder adds credibility and power to your initiative.

2) Build the resources you need to be successful, from funding to time, to work on the project.

3) Start with small projects to create early wins and then work toward larger goals using the structure you have already put in place.

In addition to producing the direct results from your project, your project helps the company in a few other ways as well. The project is likely to produce opportunities for employee professional development, increased employee engagement, and higher employee retention.

By leading the project, you may also demonstrate your abilities and skills in a way that leads to the creation of a new sustainability position within the company. As you move to your next job, you may find the skills you gain through your project are the skills that make you a perfect fit for your next position.

Your Next Step

If you have a background in business, and want to use your business skills to make a difference, you may want to become a member of NetImpact (http://www.netimpact.org). This organization has a network of chapters in over six continents for students, grad students, and professionals.

Download this 17-page report (http://netimpact.org/associations/4342/files/MakingYourImpactatWork.pdf) to learn how to use intrepreneur opportunities to position yourself to advance your green career.

Delight In The Astounding Bars In Chester.

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

Past in the crepuscule – this is what Chester is all about; whatever you are searching for in this urban place, you will spot it if you have the right heart. From the staid, fundamentally glossy, and to the current, Chester has every feeling in the book to keep you satisfied.

Chester is a conurbation of awesome evolution, not only with the dash of the people, but also with the refining and chronicled value that it describes for England. You can approach your expedition by surmounting the old walls that surround the urban place centre, then come down and row through the River Dee. Chester has the stew to keep you concentrating.

The key attractions in Chester are historical sites, the most prominent of which is the Grosvenor Museum. This museum was named after Richard Grosvenor who was a Second Marquess of Westminster. The Grosvenor Museum depicts the urban place’s rich Roman heritage. In the same breadth, you can also find the Dewa Roman experience, a small museum rich in interactive and hands-on exhibits that also features Roman past in England. If that is not Roman for you, you can go to the Roman Chester, the oldest integral of the town. Here you will find old walls, Roman gardens, and the Amphitheatre.

Chester has modern attractions and contemporary tourist activities on top of the classic tours and museum exploration that one can do. Play seekers can visit the Catton Hall paintballing station, a 200-acre field that depicts Chester’s fortifications, villages, bridges, and forts. Another fun combat simulation is available in the Catton Hall archery field. You can try out test targets with a wide variety of bow and arrows. Archery is a demonstration of England’s roster of arrow snipers that helped fortify the metropolitan area against foreign invaders. Other activities in Chester include adventure sightseeing and heritage tours.

Mouth watering – a word that characterises the menu of Chester’s finest restaurants. Chester believes in the quality of their local produce. Here, you can pick fresh fruits and vegetables ready to serve in your plate. If that is not enough, you can wait out until the Chester Food and Drink festival, which is a party of 80 restaurant exhibitors bringing together the best of what Chester has to offer. Notable restaurants in Chester include the Blackhouse Grill, the Dene Hotel, and Katie’s Tea Rooms. The Watergate Street is the place to chill out and meet the friendly locals.

Local entertainment in Chester is found at its local pubs and bars. The biggest outlets of English humour are local pubs. If you swing to the place, you should not miss the locals juke each other out for the funniest Cestrian. Another activity that you can revel is racing. Well, you do not have to race yourself, but Chester has exciting dog or horse race line-ups during the weekend. These races are a great family pastime and social activity. You do not even have to bet to join the fun.

Roman… Avant-garde… Classic… The city has a little bit of everything for everyone. Despite its character as a historic conurbation, Chester has much more to offer than its cobbled roads and old walls. Once you experience the borough in loaded bloom, you will be impressed by the borough’s depth and character.

Google Is Readily Providing Well Written and Highly Relevant Ads

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

Adsense is really making a huge impact on the affiliate marketing industry nowadays. Because of this, weak affiliate merchants have the tendency to die faster than ever and ad networks will be going to lose their customers quickly.

If you are in a losing rather than winning in the affiliate program you are currently into, maybe it is about time to consider going into the Adsense marketing and start earning some real cash.

Google is readily providing well written and highly relevant ads that are closely chosen to match the content on your pages. Adsenselover.com and picmoney.com both are the real path to your success through Google Adsense and Affiliate Marketing concept. You do not have to look for them yourselves as the search engine will be doing the searching for you from other people鈥檚 source. You do not have to spend time in choosing different kind of ads for different pages and no codes to mess around for different affiliate programs.

You will be able to concentrate on providing good and quality content, as the search engines will be the ones finding the best ads in which to put your pages on. You are still allowed to add Adsense ads even if you already have affiliate links on your site. It is prohibited, however, to imitate the look and feel of the Google ads for your affiliate links.

You can filter up to 200 URLs. That gives you a chance to block ads for the sites that do not meet your guidelines. You can also block competitors. Though it is unavoidable that Adsense may be competing for some space on web sites that all other revenues are sharing.

Owners of small sites are allowed to plug a bit of a code into their sites and instantly have relevant text ads that appeal to your visitors appear instantly into your pages. If you own many sites, you only need to apply once. It makes up for having to apply to many affiliate programs. The only way to know how much you are already earning is to try and see. If you want out, all you have to do is remove the code from your site.

The payment rates can vary extremely. The payment you will be receiving per click depends on how much advertisers are paying per click to advertise with the use of the Adwords. Advertisers can pay as little as 5 cents and as high as $10-12, sometimes even more than that too. You are earning a share of that money generated.

If your results remain stagnant, it can help if you try and build simple and uncluttered pages so that the ads can catch the visitor鈥檚 eyes more. You can also visit us at www.googleatmcash.com. It sometimes pays to differ from the usual things that people are doing already. It is also a refreshing sight for your visitor once they see something different for a change.

Tractor Incident in Shomron was an Accident, Not Terror

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

IDF investigators have concluded that the tractor incident that occurred on Monday night in Shomron near Gilad Road was an accident, not a terrorist attack as was believed earlier. Two Israelis sustained light injuries in the incident.

The incident occurred at about 8:00pm, when Kedumim resident Shai Kizler, 60, was driving on Route 60 near Gilad Farm. A small tractor was on the road, moving slowly. As Shai tried to pass, he told investigators the tractor struck him intentionally. “The tractor picked up speed and rammed into me”. Shai was injured very lightly and he continued driving to summon assistance. At this same time, the Arab tractor driver abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot. This is the version of the report released by the IDF.

Shai explained that he feared the tractor, which was stopped, was getting ready to head towards him, compelling him to turn around. He sensed this was an attack about to happen. He explained the tractor driver made a U-turn as well, but the IDF insists the incident was an accident, nothing more.

Back to the official version – A short time later, a female driver, a resident of Yitzhar passed the area. She saw a tractor stopped on the road and panicked, swerving to avoid it and landing in a ditch off the side of the road. She too was injured lightly, and she was transported to Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikvah.

As a result of the incident, an area first-response team was activated, searching the area until police and IDF forces arrived on the scene. They first suspected another tractor terror attack as those that occurred in Yerushalayim.

Officials did track down the Arab driver, who admitted he fled because he panicked, insisting it was an accident, not an intentional effort to strike a vehicle. It appears the tractor driver is still in police custody.
